Definition of Terms


Affiliate Marketing
The process where an affiliate drives traffic to a merchant’s site.  The affiliate then gets a commission when a sale is made.

Autoresponder
It is a software or tool that automatically responds to an email on your behalf.  This can be a simple out of office reply that gets sent to someone when they email you while you are out.  This can also be a complex software such as GetResponse, which allows you to schedule emails in advance and send broadcasts to subscribers.

Blog
This is derived from the words ‘web log’.  This is a website that contains dated posts about certain topics.  The most recent post is usually displayed first.

Captcha
This is some sort of a test that determines that the one entering data in forms is a real person.  This can be a word, or sequence of letters and/or numbers that the user has to enter.

CPC (Cost Per Click)
The amount that is paid for every click on an advertisement.

Domain name
The name that identifies a website.  RatRaceSlave.com is an example.

Impressions
This is the number of times the advertisement is displayed but not clicked.

Master Resale Rights
This is the right to resell the product that you purchased and keep 100% of the profits.  You can also sell the Resale Rights to your buyers.

Private Label Rights (PLR)
These are articles that people purchase so they can use them as is or modify them before using them.

Resale Rights
This is the right to resell the product that you purchased and keep 100% of the profits.

Web Hosting
This is a service provided by companies such as Hostgator where they provide a space in their servers so you can save the files used in your website.
